🌟 1. Redesigned Exterior: Bolder and Sharper

The facelift brings cosmetic changes that sharpen the SUV’s road presence. Expect a more aggressive front fascia, redesigned LED DRLs, a revised grille, and sportier alloy wheels. Mahindra is also reworking the tail-lamp design with a connected LED strip across the boot, which adds to its premium appeal.

In comparison, rivals like the Hyundai Alcazar focus more on elegance than aggression, while the Tata Safari retains a rugged persona. The MG Hector Plus offers chrome-heavy styling, but lacks the sculpted, muscular design Mahindra leans into. With this facelift, the XUV700 aims to become a blend of boldness and sophistication — perfect for urban and off-road appeal.

🛠️ 2. Tech-Rich Cabin: Screens, Features & Connected Luxury

The new XUV700 will feature a triple-screen dashboard layout — one for the driver, one for infotainment, and one for the front passenger. Wireless charging, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, Alexa-enabled commands, and ambient lighting will be standard across top variants.

Mahindra is also improving material quality, possibly introducing ventilated seats and second-row captain seat options. This is a significant jump over current competitors. For example, MG Hector Plus offers a large vertical screen but lacks screen consistency. Tata Safari delivers robustness but is behind in cabin tech. Hyundai Alcazar comes close with a digital cluster and premium finish, but still trails behind the expected tech-rich environment of the facelifted XUV700.

🔧 3. Powertrain: Proven Engines With Added Comfort

Under the hood, the facelift retains the powerful 2.0L turbo-petrol (200 PS) and 2.2L diesel (up to 185 PS). These engines are already among the most powerful in the segment and will continue with 6-speed manual and automatic options, as well as optional AWD.

While the Tata Safari shares similar diesel specs, it lacks a petrol option. The Hyundai Alcazar‘s 1.5L turbo-petrol feels underpowered in comparison. MG Hector Plus also offers a 1.5L turbo but without the performance thrill Mahindra’s petrol unit provides. The XUV700 is also expected to offer drive modes, making it a more dynamic choice for highway, city, and adventure driving alike.

The facelift is expected to carry a slight premium of ₹50,000 over current models, pushing the price range to approximately ₹14.5 lakh to ₹27.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Despite this, the feature additions and tech enhancements will justify the cost.

Tata Safari and Hyundai Alcazar are similarly priced, but often miss out on tech upgrades or AWD capabilities. MG Hector Plus offers good cabin space, but not the same level of powertrain flexibility. Mahindra’s edge lies in providing high-value top variants with luxury-like comfort and top-tier safety (including Level-2 ADAS).
